review of youtube

Youtube is an amazing site! I was first introduced to it when a friend from church sent me a video of Skipboot, an amazing cow dog who lead horses around and understood many commands from his owner. My new favorite youtube link is the rock star commercial for Intel! Since my son is a computer geek, I can relate to its message!

The pictures in Flickr are amazing! The colors are very clear and give a great representation of the items viewed. This is a great way to store and share photos. Many people are very proficient amateur photographers and benefit from having a venue like Flickr in which to share and improve their skills.

Commenting on Web 2.0 before moving on to thing 3 of the 23 things exercise, we are all becoming more aware of the implications of web 2.0 here in our library. We are organizing our webpage to better meet the searching preferences of our students and faculty, and incorporating new forms of communication when we can. We have purchased Camtasia software so that we can build video clips into our online instruction and descriptions of the library's resources. We are anxious to begin to use it!

I had a great time meeting new librarians and discussing remodelling issues at the COPLAC Conference at Keene State College in New Hampshire last week. We agreed to keep in touch and continue to learn from each other.

We are all busy learning all of the 23 things on the tutorial. We will all be so tech savvy when we are finished! Some of the sites we are asked to visit are blocked by our spam filter here on campus. We will have to be creative about our choices in order to complete our assignments.

This is a very important exercise for librarians to become familiar with the latest methods of communication. We are all looking forward to learning alot and having lots of fun, in the meantime!
